Senior Taylor Lundquist gets the Eagles going in the 68th minute

Taylor Lundquist scores Biola's first goal
Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Despite taking 23 shots through the first 67 minutes of the contest and not finding the back of the net with any, Biola managed to score four goals on its final eight shots, pulling away late to defeat Arizona Christian University 4-0 in a GSAC match on Wednesday afternoon at Al Barbour Field.

The Eagles record a win in the first ever match between the two schools, improving to 5-4-1 overall and to 2-1-0 in GSAC play. The Firestorm falls 3-5-1 on the year and stand at 0-3-0 in conference action.

Biola completely dominated the match from start to finish, but despite holding a 23-1 shot advantage through the first 67 minutes, could not seem to find the back of the net. The Eagles hit the post, the crossbar, and Arizona Christian netminder Sydney Roller-Sotak made some great saves, keeping the game scoreless.

Biola finally broke through in the 68th minute on a fantastic shot by senior Taylor Lundquist. Lundquist took a short corner and received a pass back, working herself into position for a tough shot from the near side about 20 yards out. She curled the shot up over the goalkeeper and tucked it just into the upper right corner to make it 1-0.

After a few more chances missed, Biola got another goal as Jessica Austin was taken down in the box. Victoria Dalla Zanna coverted the spot kick--the second in as many games for the Eagles--and put Biola up 2-0 in the 78th minute.

BIola tacked on a pair of goals over the final six minutes to accout for the winning margin. In the 86th minute, Shea Davis stole a pass from the Arizona Christian backline, turned and fired it into the goal from 30 yards out to make it a 3-0 game. Two minutes later, Amanda Lillicrop gather a loose ball in the box and shot it past the keeper for the the final tally of the game.

The Eagles went with sophomore Briana Williams in goal. Williams, who started her first game since September 11, recorded one save in earning her third shutout of the season.

Two players (Davis and Dalla Zanna) scored their first goals of the season for Biola which now gives the Eagles 13 different goal scorers on the season. Lundquist and Lillicrop are two of four players (Austin and Katie Cabuling) who lead the team with two goals each.

Biola returns to action on Saturday with a tough GSAC matchup, traveling to Santa Barbara to face No. 15 Westmont College at 2:00 pm. The Eagles won at Westmont for the first time in program history last year with a 1-0 win over the 12th-ranked Warriors. The lone goal came on a penalty kick 10 minutes into the contest. Westmont is 6-3-1 on the season and 2-1-0 in conference play thus far.
