Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola ramped up its GSAC-leading defense and held visiting Concordia to just 46 points on Saturday night, cruising to a 62-46 victory in a conference game at Chase Gymnasium.
Biola snaps a two-game losing streak and improves to 9-4 on the season, moving even in GSAC play at 2-2. Concordia falls to 5-6 and to 2-2 in the conference.
Charrise Reece and Adijat Adams each scored 15 points for Biola while Emily Drews added 12 points in the winning effort.
The defense was the story of the game, though, as Biola held Concordia to just 17 first-half points and to just 28.6% shooting in the game. It was the sixth time this season Biola had held a team to fewer than 50 points--all of which have resulted in victories.
Biola broke a 9-9 tie with a 9-0 run over a three-minute span in the first half, going up 18-9 on a steal and fastbreak layup by Reece with 9:28 to go in the period.
Concordia would close back to within four with 3:39 to go, but Biola closed out the half on a 6-0 run to take a 27-17 lead to the locker room.
Biola picked up the offense in the second half, quickly stretching the lead to 16 just seven minutes into the period and cruising from there.
After struggling offensively in the first half, Biola hit 51.6% (16-of-31) in the second, scoring 35 points in the final 20 minutes to pull away.
Elisha Taylor was the lone Concordia player in double-figures, scoring 14 points off the bench. Asia Auberry added eight for the visitors.
Reece hit 7-of-10 from the field to lead the team in scoring for the third time in the last four games. She is averaging over 12 points per game the last four games.
Adams just missed her first double-double of the season, adding nine rebounds to her 15 points. She also had two steals and an assist and hit 6-of-11 from the field.
Biola returns to action on Tuesday, hosting a huge GSAC game against No. 5 Westmont College at 5:30 p.m. The Warriors narrowly defeated San Diego Christian College 67-63 in a home game Saturday night.
