Box Score EL CAJON, Calif. --- A 10-point run midway through the second half proved to be too much for Biola to overcome as the Eagles saw their three-game winning streak snapped in a 56-50 loss in a GSAC game San Diego Christian College on Tuesday night.
Biola fall to 12-7 overall and wraps up the first half of GSAC play with a record of 4-5. The Hawks also stand at 4-5 in the conference and improve to 15-6 on the season.
Adijat Adams led the Eagles with 12 points and had six rebounds while Emily Drews added 11 points and missed her first double-double by one rebound, finishing with nine. Lauren Gustafson also narrowly missed a double-double with 10 rebounds and nine points for Biola.
San Diego Christian got the drop on the Eagles with a three-point barrage, hitting their first three from beyond the arc to jump out to a quick 11-4 lead. Biola rallied back with a 10-0 run to take back the lead at 14-11, but saw the Hawks tie the game on yet another three-pointer--the fourth in the early going by Brittany Robinson.
Despite the early onslaught, San Diego Christian did not hit another three pointer the rest of the game. The teams went back and forth the rest of the period with Robinson hitting a jumper in the closing seconds to send it to the half tied at 25-25.
The teams opened the second half in the same fashion with Biola breaking a 32-32 tie with a short four-point run to take its biggest lead of the second half. Still leading by four just over one minute later, San Diego Christian used an 11-1 run to take a 47-41 lead with 6:09 to go.
Jamie Elias ended the run with a bucket to give Biola its first field goal in four minutes, and the Eagles made things interesting by cutting the lead to one on a pair of free throws by Amy Freet with 3:59 to go. However, the Hawks quickly stretch the lead back to five on buckets by Robinson and Brittany Daniel. Biola would get no closer than three the rest of the way.
Robinson led all scorers with 21 points while Daniel added 19 points and nine rebounds.
The numbers for both teams were relatively even with Biola shooting 36.5% while San Diego Christian hit 37% of its shots. However, the Hawks had four three-pointers to Biola's two and had two more free throws made despite shooting just 60% from the line.
The Eagles begin the second half of the GSAC schedule with a road game, traveling to Costa Mesa to face No. 10 Vanguard. The Lions blew out Hope International on Tuesday night, winning 104-37 at home and currently sits in second place in the conference with an 8-1 GSAC record.
