Adijat Adams recorded her second double-double in the last three games and
Emily Drews scored a season-high 19 points as Biola cruised to its third-straight win, a 77-49 victory over Hope International in a GSAC game on Saturday night.
The Eagles improve to 12-6 on the season and move back to .500 in conference at 4-4. The Royals drop to 4-16 and to 1-7 in GSAC action.
Drews snapped out of a bit of a shooting slump over the last few games, hitting 8-of-15 from the field to finish with 19 points, adding three steals and three rebounds. Adams had her second double-double of the week and of the season, scoring 13 points and adding 14 rebounds in the game.
Adams was part of Biola's dominance inside as the Eagles out-rebounded the Royals 48-23, pulling down as many offensive rebounds as defensive.
in the first half, Biola had trouble pulling away from the Royals in the first half, leading by just five at 20-15 midway through the opening period. However, a 7-0 run over the next five minutes stretched the lead up to 12 with 5:33 left.
The Eagles still led by 12 with 3:56 to go only to see Hope cut the lead to six with a quick run. A three-pointer by Drews with just over one minute left gave Biola a 34-25 lead at the break.
Biola held a commanding 28-8 rebounding edge in the half, pulling down 17 offensive rebounds off 23 missed shots. However, they could only turn those into 10 second-chance points. The Eagles also committed 11 turnovers in the period.
Hope started the second half hot and closed the gap to five at 40-35 with 14:39 to go. But Biola came alive after that and ran away with the game. Drews ignited the run with a big three-pointer to make it an eight-point game as the Eagles went on a long 23-8 run over the next 12 minutes.
Biola stopped turning the ball over in the second half which was key to the late run, money committing five turnovers to Hope's 11 in the final 20 minutes. The Eagles also hit 51.5% from the field in the second half while holding the Royals to 34.6%.
Charrise Reece had a solid all-around game, scoring nine points but adding eight assists, four rebounds, two steals and Biola's lone blocked shot in the game.
The Eagles close out the first half of the GSAC schedule on Tuesday, traveling to El Cajon to face San Diego Christian College at 5:30 p.m.
