LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University goalkeeper
Aaron Fenlason has been named the first Golden State Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the 2011 season as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Fenlason helped the Eagles to a pair of wins to open the season, allowing just one goal while making five saves in two matches last week.
On Tuesday, the senior recorded four saves and earned his first shutout of the season and 20th of his career in a 1-0 win over Cal State San Marcos. Fenlason then had another solid game, making one save in a 4-1 win over Marymount College on Friday.
Fenlason, who was a 2010 NAIA First Team All-American, posted a 0.82 goals against average last season and is the first Biola men's soccer player to earn player of the week honors since he won the final award of the 2009 season.
Biola is off to a 2-0 start and hosts cross-town foe Whittier College in a non-conference match on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
