LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Lyndsie Roberts tossed a four-hit shutout and Jillian Storm plated the lone runs with a bases-loaded single in the second as Biola took game one of a non-conference doubleheader 2-0 over Saint Thomas University (Fla.) on Friday. 

The Bobcats (5-9) came from behind and took game two from the Eagles (10-6) by a final of 4-3 in nine innings.

Roberts posted her second-straight shutout to improve to 3-2 on the season, scattering four hits and striking out five to record the victory. 

Biola did all of its damage in the second inning as a St. Thomas error opened the door to a two-run inning. With the bases load and two out, Storm hit a shot through the right-side of the infield to score Vanessa Coleman and Celina Thornton with what proved to be the game's only runs. 

The Eagles would record just two hits in the game but managed to hold on for the win.

In the second game, St. Thomas scored its first run of the afternoon in the third, benefitting from a Biola error to go on top 1-0 in the top of the third. 

Biola answered right back with a three-spot in the bottom of the frame. With one out, Chelsea Limm reached base on an error which was followed by a bunt single by Storm put two on base for Lauren Gandy. Gandy then plated the pair with a single, then came around to score on a single by CeCe Luster.

The Eagles held the lead semi-comfortably until the seventh inning when things began to unravel. Kristin Larson had been pitching well to that point, allowing just five hits. After allowing a one-out single, she recorded her fifth strikeout to bring St. Thomas to its final out.

But the Bobcats weren't quite done. Sasha Horton rattled a double down the left-field line which put two runners in scoring position. After a four-pitch walk loaded the bases, Carissa Albizu drove home the tying runs with a single to center. 

Biola was unable to score in the seventh necessitating the international tiebreaker in the eighth inning. 

New Biola pitcher CeCe Luster did a fantastic job of working out of the top of the eighth inning without giving up a run. In the bottom of the frame, Limm was placed on second and reached third on a wild pitch. However, she tried to score the winning run on what turned out to be ball four to Jillian Storm and was tagged out at the plate.

As the inning continued, Storm stole second, but Gandy was called out on what looked like it would be an infield hit as she was called for being out of the box on her swing. After a walk to Luster, Roberts then grounded out to end the threat.

In the ninth, St. Thomas took the lead quickly as Horton drove home the tiebreaker runner with a solid single up the middle. Horton would move to third with one out, but was unable to score.

Biola had a chance in the bottom of the ninth as a leadoff single by Shaylynn Weststeyn moved Roberts to third with Weststeyn taking second on an ill-advised throw home. After a walk loaded the bases with no one out, St. Thomas was able to get three-straight groundouts by the bottom three in the Biola order to end the threat.

CeCe Luster suffered the tough loss, her first as an Eagle, to fall to 3-1 on the season.

The loss snaps Biola's five-game winning streak and is their first loss at home of the season. 

The Eagles have little time to shake off the effects of the loss as they welcome in No. 8 Cal State San Marcos for a key doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 12:00 Noon.
