LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Freshman CeCe Luster allowed one unearned run on four hits in a complete-game victory in game one of a doubleheader against No. 13 Dickinson State on Wednesday afternoon at Freedom Field. The Eagles dropped the second game 4-2.

Biola wraps up the day with a record of 19-11, closing out a busy stretch of 16 games in 13 days. The Blue Hawks are now 7-5 overall.

Luster helped key a strong performance all around by the Eagles, who pounded out 12 hits in the first game of the doubleheader. In the first inning, Jillian Storm led things off with a single up the middle, then stole second and was moved to third on a wild pitch. She then easily came around to score on a single by Lauren Gandy. Gandy would steal second and move to the third on an infield groundout by Luster, then score on a sacrifice fly by Lyndsie Roberts.

Biola picked up an unearned run in the bottom of the third to stretch the lead to 3-0, but Dickinson State scored an unearned run of its own in the top of the fourth to close the gap to two. 

But Biola was able to pull away with a run in each of the final two innings. In the fifth, Vanessa Coleman drove home a run with single and Luster helped out her own cause with an RBI-single in the sixth.

Luster really didn't need much help, scattering four hits and allowing one unearned run to improve to 5-2 on the season. She also had six strikeouts in seven innings.

Things started out good for the Eagles in the second game as they scored in the first to take an early lead. Gandy doubled down the left-field line to start the rally and then came around to score on a single by Luster. 

Biola retained the 1-0 lead until the fourth inning when the Blue Hawks tied the game, taking advantage of a two-out error to score an unearned run.

In the fifth, Dickinson State blew the game open with a three-spot, all of the runs coming courtesy of Biola errors. 

The Eagles got one run back in the sixth, but could not muster enough offense to tie the game late and lost 4-2. Shaylynn Weststeyn suffered the tough-luck loss despite not allowing an earned run and just seven hits while striking out five.

Biola takes a much-need break for the rest of the week, opening GSAC play on Tuesday against Vanguard University at Freedom Field beginning at 2:00 p.m.
