LA MIRADA, Calif. --- CeCe Luster went 5-for-7 on the day and pitched a two-hit shutout in the first game to lead Biola to a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Concordia University (Ill.) by scores of 8-0 and 8-2 on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles improve to 13-9 on the season with their fifth win in their last six games--all over the course of the last three days. The Cougars drop to 2-5.

Biola's offense was up to the task on the day and jumped out to a quick lead in the first game. Luster was a big part of the that, driving home Jillian Storm with a run in the bottom of the first.

In the second inning, Celina Thornton drove home the second run with a double and scored on an error after a single by Vanessa Coleman. A bit later in the frame, Luster made it a 6-0 game with a two-run single.

Meanwhile, Luster was dominating in the circle, allowing just two hits and striking out five in the game to improve to 5-3 on the season.

Biola ended the game in the sixth inning with a pair of run-scoring singles by Jillian Storm and Lauren Gandy.

In the second game, the Cougars scored first with two runs in the first inning as Biola starter Shaylynn Weststeyn had trouble finding the strike zone early. However, she settled down after that walking just one more batter and striking out eight in six innings.

Meanwhile, Biola answered back with two in the first as well, scoring once on an error and another on an attempted double-steal.

The Eagles took the lead in the third on another RBI-single by Luster and scored one more in the fifth as Lyndsie Roberts led off the inning with a monster home run to right.

In the sixth, Biola broke the game open with four runs. Gandy and Luster led off the innning with singles and moved into scoring position on an error by the Cougars. Roberts then drove them both in with a single to right. Parker drove home Roberts with a ground out three batters later and the Eagles capped the scoring on an error.

Roberts was 3-for-4 in the second game with three runs scored and three RBIs. Jillian Storm had trouble getting on base, but managed to record a stolen base, tying the single season record with 31 steals on the season with Biola just over halfway through the year.

Biola closes out a busy stretch of eight games in four days with a doubleheader Saturday against Bethany University beginning at Noon.
