The second set started out close but quickly went the way of the Sunbirds. With the score knotted at 7-7, Fresno Pacific went on a long 8-1 run to take a commanding 15-9 lead in the set. Biola closed it to four at 16-12 a few points later, but could get no closer the rest of the way as the Sunbirds took the set 25-19.
Biola led early through much of the third set, until a 7-3 Fresno Pacific run changed a 12-9 Eagles' lead to an 18-15 deficit. The Eagles narrowed the deficit to one at 21-20 on a Weststeyn kill, but would get no closer the rest of the way.
It looked like the Sunbirds were set to take the match in four, jumping out to 12-9 lead in the fourth set. But the Eagles fought back and eventually tied the the set at 14-14. With the score tied at 16-16, Biola took over, scoring nine of the final 10 points to take the set 25-17.
