EL CAJON, Calif. --- Senior Sarah McAtee had a match-high 12 kills and junior Christine Douglas added 10 to lead No. 15 Biola to a 25-14, 25-22, 25-17 sweep over San Diego Christian College in a GSAC match on Saturday night at the Ryan Athletic Center in El Cajon.

The Eagles pick up their second-straight win and improve to 17-7 on the season and move to 5-3 in GSAC play. The Hawks suffer their ninth-straight loss and fall to 5-17 overall and remain winless at 0-8 in the conference.

McAtee and Douglas both hit over .400 in the match and paced the Biola offense which had little trouble against San Diego Christian on the night. McAtee hit a season-best .500, recording 12 kills with just two errors in 20 attacks. Douglas added 10 kills with no errors in 23 swings.

Biola got off to a solid start with a dominating performance in the first set. Leading 11-7 in the early going, the Eagles took control with a long 12-2 run to go up 23-9. After SDCC closed the gap a bit with a 5-1 run, a McAtee kill ended the rally and the set.

The second set was a much closer contest. Biola held a 15-10 lead just past the midway point only to see the Hawks rally and pull within one at 15-14. The Eagles worked the lead back up to four after a while, taking a 23-19 lead after an SDCC service error. But the Hawks would rally again and scored the next three points--two on kills by Aja Walker--to make it a 23-22 contest. After an Eagles timeout, Nicolette Mather and McAtee recorded back-to-back kills to give Biola the close victory.

Biola then rolled again in the third set to walk out of El Cajon with a sweep for the first time in the last three trips. The match started out close with neither team holding a lead of more than two points. With the score knotted at 16-16, the Eagles finally put the match away, scoring nine of the final 10 points of the match thanks to three kills by McAtee.

Biola posted a .347 team attack percentage, committing just nine errors in the match including just one in the final set. The Eagles also held the Hawks to a .062 hitting percentage.

The Eagles return home for its next match, a big GSAC contest against No. 8 Fresno Pacific University. Biola has lost 29 of the last 30 matches against the Sunbirds have lost as many conference matches already this year (2) as they have over the last five years combined.
