LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Coming off one of its most successful seasons in school history, Biola's Men's Soccer coach Bryan Kuderman has put together a challenging slate of games to help the team return to the NAIA Tournament in 2010.

The schedule, officially released on Friday, features 17 games including seven home games and a features a road contest against NCAA Division I UC Riverside.

After two scrimmages and an exhibition against NCAA Division II teams, Biola opens the regular season with a home match against Trinity Western University (B.C.) on Monday, August 30 at 4:00 p.m. The Spartans finished third in the Canadian college championships and are ranked fifth heading into this season.

The Eagles then hit the road for their next five matches starting with a match at Cal State LA on Thursday, Sept. 2. On Saturday, Sept. 4, Biola faces cross-town rival Whittier College at 11:00 a.m., then heads east to face Claremont College on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 7:00 p.m.

On Monday, Sept. 13, Biola travels to face NCAA Division I UC Riverside in a 7:00 p.m. match before closing out the long road trip with a match at Cal State San Marcos on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 3:00 p.m.

The Eagles return to Al Barbour Field on Thursday, Sept. 23, to face Marymount College (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m. in their final non-conference match of the season.

Biola begins GSAC play at San Diego Christian on Sat., Sept. 25, and plays its conference home-opener against California Baptist University on Wed., Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m.

The biggest conference game of the season may be the final home game for the Eagles, who host The Master's College in a rematch of last year's GSAC title game on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 7:00 p.m. Biola lost twice to the Mustangs in 2009 with both games coming in Santa Clarita. With both teams expected to be back among the top of the tables this season, the match could once again determine the conference champ.

The Eagles' remaining conference home games come against Westmont College (Oct. 5 - 7:00 p.m.), Concordia University (Oct. 16 - 5:00 p.m.) and Point Loma Nazarene University (Oct. 23 - 7:00 p.m.). 

Biola's biggest road game comes on Saturday, Oct. 9, as the Eagles face arch-rival Azusa Pacific University in Azusa beginning at 1:00 p.m. Biola's other GSAC road games are at Hope International University (Oct. 13 - 3:00 p.m.), Fresno Pacific University (Oct. 19 - 7:00 p.m.) and at Vanguard University (Oct. 27 - 7:00 p.m.).

"This is a tough schedule for us this year," said Kuderman. "I am most excited to see how we do against the likes of UC Riverside and Trinity Western. These should be two very good games for us and, if we are healthy, I expect strong performances from the squad."

Last season, Biola reached the NAIA Quarterfinals, finishing with a 13-5-4 overall record including a 7-2-1 record in conference play. The Eagles return 15 players from that squad including All-GSAC netminder Aaron Fenlason and leading-scorer Marco Ruvalcaba.
