Biola Opens Southern Oregon Tournament With Two Wins

Lyndsie Roberts
ASHLAND, Ore. --- Biola got revenge for one of their losses and beat a second team for the second time this season, winning two games on the first day of the Southern Oregon University tournament in Ashland.

The Eagles have now won five in a row after suffering three losses on the first day of the season, improving to 5-3 overall.

A pair of inside-the-park home runs--one in each game--proved to be the difference for Biola.

In game one, the Eagles avenged one of their early losses, beating Oregon Tech 4-2. Brittany Bury recorded an inside-the-park homer, her second of the season, a three-run shot which proved to be the difference in the game.

In the circle, Lyndsie Roberts threw the opening four innings to pick up the win, scattering five hits and allowing no earned runs with three strikeouts. Kristin Larson closed out the game, allowing just one hit while striking out two.

Jillian Storm also had a good game with the bat, going 2-for-2 in the contest.

In Biola's 6-3 win over Northwest Christian (Ore.), it was Krista Johnson's turn to go inside-the-park, collecting two RBIs with one swing while Storm added another pair of hits in three at-bats.

Larson started the game and went three innings and had three strikeouts while allowing just one hit. Roberts finished the game with four strong innings, striking out seven and allowing just two hits.

Biola returns to action on Friday (Feb. 26), facing Simpson University (Calif.) and Holy Names University (Calif.) at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
