LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University senior middle blocker Tavea Hampton and sophomore outside hitter Christine Douglas have been named 2010 NAIA Volleyball All-Americans as announced by the national body on Monday.

Hampton was named a second-team selection while Douglas earned third-team honors. The duo becomes the 29th and 30th All-Americans in program history, marking just the sixth time two or more Eagles have earned All-America status.

Hampton, a senior for Canyon Lake, was one of the best middles in the conference and graduates as one of the best ever to play at Biola. She finished the season ranked third in the conference and 10th in the country in attack percentage at .379 and led the GSAC with 146 total blocks. Hampton averaged 1.02 blocks per set and contributed 2.52 kills per set as well.

Hampton reached double-figures in kills in 17 matches this season and had four where she had at least 10 kills with no errors. Hampton recorded an attack percentage of .500 or better in 12 matches and had at least two blocks in 37 of Biola's 38 matches.

Her best match of the season came against Westminster College as she recorded 16 kills in 23 swings with no errors for a career-best .696 attack percentage. 

Hampton career has been an impressive one, leaving the program with her name throughout Biola's career record book. Among those achievements, her career attack percentage of .346 is the best in program history and her 336 career blocks ranks her fourth all-time.

Douglas, a sophomore from Cypress, led the team in nearly every offensive category this season. She became the fifth player in program history to reach 500 kills in a season, recording 560 on the year. Douglas averaged 3.92 kills per set and added 61 blocks, 140 digs, and 12 aces.

Douglas seemed to save her best for last, closing out the season by recording 100 kills in her final six matches, averaging 4.55 kills per set. She was named to the 2010 NAIA All-Tournament team for her efforts. 

Douglas reached double-figures in kills in 28 of Biola's 38 matches and had 20 or more kills in 10. Her best match of the season by the numbers came against Northwestern College where she recorded 17 kills in 27 attacks with no errors. In Biola's regular season finale, Douglas had a career-high 31 kills--two shy of the school record for a five-set match--and posted a .419 attack percentage.

Biola wrapped up the 2010 season with a 28-10 overall record, finishing tied for second in the GSAC with a 16-4 mark. The Eagles reached the NAIA National Tournament Quarterfinals for the ninth time in 10 all-time tournament appearances.

A total of 13 athletes from the Golden State Athletic Conference were represented on the All-America teams, the most from any one conference. California Baptist head coach Ryan McGuyre was named the 2010 NAIA Coach of the year after guiding his Lancers to the quarterfinals of the 2010 NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
