Biola Earns Yet Another Draw, Tying Concordia 0-0

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola played strong defense and quelled a strong Concordia offense, earning a 0-0 tie in a GSAC match on Saturday afternoon on Al Barbour Field.

Biola moves to 4-4-4 on the season with their second-straight draw and fourth in the last seven matches, and is now 1-2-3 in GSAC play. Concordia ends the day with an 8-3-3 record and a 3-1-2 mark in the conference.

The match was fought mostly at midfield, though Concordia was able to outshoot Biola 16-7. Biola did get a solid push forward, but the backlines for both teams held strong throughout.

Junior goalkeeper Erin Frushion had a very impressive game for Biola, recording seven saves while facing 16 shots to earn her third shutout of the season. She came up big in the overtime periods, snuffing out a number of great scoring chances by Concordia.

Concordia had a great scoring chances in the first overtime as Alyssa McDonald cracked a shot from just outside of the box. However, Frushon was there to make the save. McDonlad had two more shots in the first OT, but both were blocked.

In the second overtime, Biola's Natalie Oliver had a chance to make a winning goal with a shot just from inside the box, but Concordia goalkeeper Hayley Partridge made a great save to preserve the tie.

Partridge made just two saves in the match, facing seven shots overall.

The tie was a big one against a Concordia squad which is playing great soccer at the moment, coming off a big upset win over No. 6 Vanguard on Tuesday. Biola is now alone in eighth place, just two points out of seventh and three points behind Fresno Pacific, the Eagles' opponent on Wednesday. Biola travels north to face the Sunbirds at 7:00 p.m.
