The game got off to a great start for the Eagles, who opened up with an 11-2 run over the first three minutes. But the Hawks stormed back with a 9-0 run over the next three to tie the score on a jumper by Alexandra Dill. Just two points were scored by either team over the next five minutes before the Eagles stretched the lead back to six with a short run. San Diego Christian closed the gap to two at the half, scoring twice in the final 1:11 to make it a 21-19 game at intermission.
In the second half, Biola again came out hot, holding the Hawks to just one field goal over the first seven minutes while riding a 17-3 run to a 36-22 lead at the 13:25 mark. San Diego Christian whittled the lead back down to nine at 50-41 with 5:15 to go, but could get no closer as the Eagles scored five quick points in just over a minute and cruised to the 15-point victory.
Torreya Edwards led San Diego Christian with 17 points, adding three steals and two assists.
Biola held the Hawks to just 28.1 percent shooting in the game, the lowest shooting percentage by an opponent this year. However, the Eagles shot just 38.6 percent and turned the ball over 24 times, allowing SDCC to stay in the game throughout.
Biola returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 12), traveling to Santa Barbara to face No. 14 Westmont College in a GSAC clash beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Murchison Gymnasium.
