LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior middle blocker
Kelsey Christoferson collected 21 kills on the day to lead Biola to a pair of wins, sweeping Corban College (Ore.) 25-15, 25-14, 25-21 and Eastern Oregon 25-11, 25-19, 25-16 on the final day of the Azusa Pacific Cougar Classic on Saturday.
The Eagles, ranked No. 20 in the NAIA Preseason Poll, improve to 3-1 on the young season while Corban fell to 0-3 and Eastern Oregon to 1-2.

Tavea Hampton led the bulk of the Biola attack, combining for 45 kills in 65 swings over the course of the morning while committing just seven total errors. Christoferson had a match-high 14 kills with a .522 attack percentage to lead the Eagles in the first match. Hampton was quite consistent, recording seven kills in 13 attacks in the first match and seven kills in 14 attacks in the second.
Against Corban, Biola used a balanced attack and strong serving to sweep past the Warriors. In the first set, the Eagles broke an early 3-3 tie with a 7-1 run to take control early. Christoferson had three kills and sophomore outside hitter
Amy Mosebar added two during the run. Corban would cut the lead to four but Biola cruised the rest of the way for the 10-point win.
In the second, the two teams rattled off a pair of short runs through the first part of the set. However, Biola scored 13 of the final 18 points to break open the relatively close set and cruised to a 25-14 win.
The Eagles did not let off the gas pedal in the final set, jumping out to a big lead before a late rally by Corban made it a respectable 25-21 win.

Kim Russell each contributed seven kills.
The Eagles also added a season-best nine aces in the match with freshman Janae O'Connor leading the way with three.
Biola played its best overall match of the season in its sweep over Eastern Oregon. The Eagles posted a .347 attack percentage while holding the Mountaineers to just .068.
Biola was just completely dominant in the first set, opening up with a 13-5 advantage, recording eight kills in its first 14 swings without committing an error. The Eagles would finish the set with a .379 attack percentage and a huge 25-11 win.
In the second game, the teams battled back-and-forth with Biola holding a slight 10-8 lead midway through. The Eagles then slowly began to pull away, scoring the next four points to take a six-point lead and cruise to the victory.
Biola struggled a bit in the third set, falling behind early by a 10-8 count. But after a time out, the Eagles went on a 5-0 run to retake the lead and wound up outscoring Eastern Oregon 17-6 the rest of the way for the 25-16 victory.
Russell led Biola with a match-high 12 kills in 29 swings. Christoferson and Hampton each recorded seven kills with Hampton recording three blocks and Christoferson adding three digs.
Freshman setter
Justine Schoneveld recorded 36 assists in the match and finished the day with 69 total. She is now averaging 11.1 assists per set in the early going. She also had two service aces six digs and a block in the match against Eastern Oregon.
Biola returns to action on Friday (Aug. 28), opening the Fresno Pacific Sunbird Classic with a match against Cornerstone University (Mich.) at 2:30 p.m.
