SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- After a strong first half, Biola fell victim to a big second-half surge by Westmont resulting in the match's lone goal as the Warriors held off the Eagles 1-0 in a GSAC match on Wednesday afternoon.
Biola drops to 5-2-1 on the season and to 1-2-0 in GSAC play while Westmont improves to 4-3-1 and to 2-1-0 in conference action.
The Warriors' lone goal came in the 69th minute as Aolani Rueff scored on a cross by Britney Scannell. The goal was one of 16 shots Westmont managed in the second half after recording just three in the entire first half.
Biola had a number of great chances in the first 45 minutes, matching the Warriors' shot total with three in the half. The Eagles best chances came around the 30-minute mark. In the 28th minute
Megan Gularte had a great crack at the goal which was saved by Westmont goalie Roxanne Love. Just a few minute later, Biola had another great chance as a shot by
Brittany Barr in the 32nd minute skipped past the keeper but rattled off the post.
Westmont came out firing in the second half, recording five shots in the first five minutes. Biola responded with a chance of their own. After securing a corner kick, a perfect floater into the box found the feet of
Megan Gularte, but her shot attempt was blocked and cleared from danger.

Erin Frushon faced a total of 19 shots in the match and recorded seven saves to help keep the Eagles in the contest. Love recorded two saves.
Biola returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 10), hosting No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific University in a GSAC match beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Al Barbour Field.
