LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Midfielder Kahlie Reinecke made her final home match at Al Barbour Field a special one, scoring her first goal of the season to help Biola secure a 1-1 draw against No. 6 Vanguard University in a GSAC match on Tuesday night.

The Eagles improve to 6-6-2 on the season and are now 2-6-1 in GSAC play. The Lions played to their second-straight draw and are now 11-1-3 overall and 5-1-3 in the conference.

It was the fifth-straight meeting between the two schools which resulted in overtime. Biola is 3-0-2 in those matches and is undefeated against the Lions in the last six contests in the series.

Reinecke netted the goal in the 75th minute as the two teams played a thrilling, but scoreless match up to that point on a cold and windy evening. Reinecke made a great play with a one-touch shot off a strong volley by junior forward Sam David. The goal gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

But Vanguard came roaring back and found the equalizer just five minutes later. Amanda Couch recorded the impressive goal, curling a wind-aided corner kick into the goal to tie things up at 1-1.

The Lions, who are right on the cusp of making a trip to the NAIA Tournament, fought hard in overtime for the extra two points which come with a victory. They had a number of chances including having two shots hit the crossbar in the extra frame, but were unable to come up with a goal.

Despite being outshot 17-8, Biola seemed to have the better scoring opportunities in regulation. However, Vanguard goalkeeper Jullian Foss made some spectacular saves to keep her team in it. As did Biola's goalie, Erin Frushon. The sophomore recorded three saves including a pair in the second half on point-blank shots.

The Eagles close out the regular season on Saturday (Oct. 31), traveling up to Santa Clarita to face off against The Master's College in a GSAC match beginning at Noon.
