LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Forward Marco Ruvalcaba was named the GSAC Offensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper Aaron Fenlason earned Defensive Player of the Week honors as Biola swept the weekly awards announced by the conference office on Monday.

The pair of sophomores earned the honors after helping Biola to a pair of GSAC victories this week including a huge 1-0 upset win over No. 2-ranked Azusa Pacific University on Saturday. On Tuesday, the Eagles picked up a big road victory, knocking off Westmont College 2-0.

For Fenlason, it was the third time this season he has been named the conference's top defensive player. He recorded 14 saves in each game and collected his eighth and ninth shutouts of the season, respectively. Against Westmont, Fenlason recorded five saves and had three stops against Azusa Pacific.

Fenlason, who lowers his goals against average to a GSAC-best 0.30, held the Cougars without a goal for the first time this season and handed them their first defeat in 12 matches this year.

Ruvalcaba recorded two of Biola's three goals last week to add to his team-leading total. He netted the lone goal in Biola's win over Azusa Pacific, blasting a shot from the left side with just over one minute remaining in the first half. On Tuesday, the sophomore scored a key insurance goal in the second half of Biola's win at Westmont.

Ruvalcaba leads the Eagles and is fifth in the GSAC with eight goals on the season. He has scored four in his last three matches.

Biola is off to one of its best starts in school history at 9-1-0 and is tied atop the GSAC standings with a perfect 4-0-0 record. The Eagles return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 14), hosting Hope International University at 7:00 p.m.
