BOX SCORE

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Sophomore forward Jennifer French drained a three-pointer with one minute to play in overtime to lead Biola to a 68-65 overtime win at The Master's College in a GSAC game on Tuesday night.

The Eagles improve to 12-4 on the season with the win and improve to 5-3 in the conference and to 4-1 in road GSAC games. The Mustangs fall to 10-7 overall and to 5-3 in GSAC play.

Overtime seemed to be an impossiblity after the Eagles jumped out to a quick 18-point first half lead. However, a big run by The Master's College made the game close down the stretch, forcing overtime.

Biola fell behind early after a three-pointer by Annie Gillespie gave the Mustangs a one-point advantage at 63-62. However, Chelsea De Luca answered right back with a three of her own two minutes later to give the Eagles the lead right back. The Master's was able to tie up the score as Stacy Nanninga hit a wide open runner in the lane with 1:11 remaining. But Biola answered just over 11 seconds later as French worked open and hit a deep three from the corner to put Biola back on top.

The Eagles made a pair of great defensive stands in the final minute of overtime creating a turnover on The Master's first offensive chance, then forcing an off-balance three-point miss at the buzzer by Amanda Durocher.

Senior forward Megann Alberts recorded a game-high 20 points, while sophomore forward Jessilyn Conicelli added 14 points and six rebounds. De Luca had 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting to round out the Eagles in double-figures.

Biola got off to an impressive start in the game, jumping out to a 25-7 lead through the game's first nine minutes. The Eagles still led by 17 points with 4:45 to play in the half before The Master's awoke. The Mustangs rattled of a 29-6 run over the next nine minutes, spanning the half and tied the game at 38-38 with 15:14 to play.

The Master's would stretch the lead to as many as five as a Jenni Ritter three-pointer made it 56-51 with 7:15 to play in the game. But that would prove to be the final field goal of the period by the Mustangs as the Eagles used a 9-0 run to tie the score and eventually go up 60-56. The Master's hit four free throws down the stretch as Biola had trouble scoring, setting up the exciting overtime finish.

The Eagles continued their inside dominance, outscoring the Master's 36-26 in the paint. The two teams each finished with 33 rebounds in the contest with French and Concicelli leading Biola with six apiece.

The Mustangs were led by Annie Gillespie, who scored 18 points and added nine rebounds. Nanninga had 13 points and 12 rebounds with Erica Inge adding 10. Biola held Durocher to just eight points on the night on 2-of-15 shooting from the field. The senior entered the game with a team-high 40 three-pointers made and averaged 13.7 points per game.

Biola returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 24), hosting California Baptist in a GSAC game set to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
