IRVINE, Calif. --- Junior Kelsey Mitchell had 11 kills and Kristen Peterson and Brittany Wing added 10 each as No. 5 Biola pulled off a convincing 30-14, 30-16, 30-19 sweep over No. 4 National American University on Friday morning at Concordia University.

The Eagles improve to 13-2 overall while dropping the Mavericks to 12-3.

National American, which won the NAIA National Championship after going 41-0 last season, was swept for the first time in over two years and lost for just the third time since 2005.

Biola took control early, jumping out to a 2-4 lead in the first game and cruised to the easy win.

In game two, the Mavericks held an early 11-8 lead before the Eagles came storming back with a 6-0 run. After trading points, Biola used a 14-2 run to close out the game in dominating fashion.

The final game also opened with National American jumping out to a quick 6-3 lead. But again, the Eagles came storming back, going on a 13-1 run highlighted by the 10-straight points served by sophomore setter Abbie Wright. The Mavericks managed to string together some points late in the game, but the eagles closed out match on a monster kill by Peterson.

Mitchell had another error-free night, recording her 11 kills in 14 attempts without making a hitting error. It was the second time this season she has had 10 or more kills without an error. In addition, Mitchell added four aces and two blocks.

Sophomore middle blocker Kelsey Christoferson had her GSAC-leading attack percentage drop to .406 after recording just two kills in the match. However, she played great up front, recording four blocks.

Biola hit .343 in the match while holding National American to a .032 attack percentage and recording eight blocks.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday (Sept. 29) for a GSAC match against The Master's College at 1:00 p.m. at Chase Gymnasium in La Mirada.
