BOX SCORE

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola rebounded from a frustrating loss with a 30-27, 30-15, 30-25 win over Hope International University in a GSAC match on Tuesday night at Chase Gymnasium in La Mirada.

The Eagles, ranked No. 4 in the latest NAIA National Poll, improve to 20-4 overall and 11-4 in GSAC play while the Royals fall to 6-14 overall and 3-12 in conference action.

Biola was led by junior outside hitter Meghan Warkentin, who had 14 kills and three blocks. Junior outside hitter Kelsey Mitchell added 10 kills and three blocks.

The Eagles got off to a slow start and–after scoring the first point of the match–did not lead again until late in the first game. Biola would trail by as many as four, but finally tied the score at 21-21 on back-to-back kills by Warkentin. Later, trailing 27-26, the Eagles managed to score four straight points, punctuated with a block by Mitchell and Kelsey Christoferson.

Game two was dominated by the Eagles who used a 10-1 run midway though the game to cruise to an easy win.

In the third game, Biola open up a quick 9-4 lead and led by as many as seven as Head Coach Aaron Seltzer experimented with a few different lineup combinations.

Freshman Tavea Hampton made the most of her first start of the season, recording five kills without committing an error for a .417 attack percentage. She also added seven blocks on the night.

Sophomore libero Katie Stevens played well on defense and had a season-high 28 digs for Biola.

Setters Abbie Wright and Christina Perkins each had double-doubles with Wright recording 28 assists and 10 digs and Perkins adding 19 assists and 11 digs on the night. Both setters also added two aces.

The Royals were led by Jillian Lane, who had 13 kills and 20 digs.

Biola makes a rare mid-season roadtrip out of the state this weekend, traveling to Michigan for the Madonna University Crusader Classic on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 26-27).
