John Wiese has served as Biola’s Head Athletic Trainer since 1988. He is also a part of the department's leadership team as the Director of Sports Medicine.
A graduate from Point Loma College, John worked at San Diego Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center before becoming the Head Athletic Trainer at California Baptist University, and then ultimately transitioning to Biola in the late-1980s.
In addition to overseeing the entire sports medicine program at Biola, John teaches sport medicine and disc golf classes for the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science. Athletic training, sport performance and student-athlete well-being all fall under the purview of Wiese's leadership.
John's primary sport assignments currently include men's basketball and tennis.
Outside of work, he enjoys volunteering his athletic training skills with Justin Sports Medicine, which covers professional rodeo in the region. John is an avid disc golfer and enjoys spending time with family, camping in the High Sierras and outdoor photography.
