David Cone enters his sixth season as an assistant on Dr. Dave Holmquist's staff in 2020-21. He helped the team reach the NAIA National Championship tournament in 2015-16 and end the season with a top-5 ranking in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll. He's helped see Biola Men's Basketball through the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II and plays a key role in recruiting each year.
Cone came to the Eagles following a successful NAIA playing career with Biola and Wayland Baptist. He was at BU from 2009-11 and then played a season at WBU in 2011-12 before serving on the coaching staff as a student assistant in 2012-13.
Both of the teams he played on at Biola reached the NAIA National Quarterfinals. He appeared in 23 games over the course of his two years as an Eagle and shot 59 percent from the field.
Cone was an honor roll student in high school and made the Dean's List in college. He also played varsity baseball and basketball while attending Paso Robles High School. In 2007-08 he was all-league first team and the defensive player of the year. He also earned all-conference honors in 2006-07.
He graduated from Wayland Baptist in 2013 with a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science graduated with an M.A. in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2017.
He and his wife, Emily, currently reside in Tustin, California and have one child together, Cooper.
