LA MIRADA---Kayla Bousquette delivered a dominant performance in the circle, pitching a complete-game shutout to lead the Biola softball team to a 3–0 win over Chaminade on Tuesday afternoon at Freedom Field.
Bousquette went all seven innings, allowing seven hits while keeping Chaminade off the scoreboard. She worked through multiple scoring threats and finished with three strikeouts to improve her record to 11–3 on the season.
Biola provided early run support in the first inning. Alexa Medley Sheard worked a walk with one out and Jackie Ibarra followed with a single to put two runners on. Kendall Nakano then delivered an RBI single to left field to score Sheard and give the Eagles a 1–0 lead.
The pressure continued as Cami Lara reached on an error to load the bases. Mikala Huskey added another run with a fielder's choice, bringing home Ibarra to extend the lead to 2–0.
The Eagles added one more run in the second inning. Madeline Granados reached base and later scored on an RBI from Ibarra, extending the lead to 3–0.
From there, the game settled into a defensive battle. Chaminade put runners on base in several innings, including a pair of hits in the fourth and sixth, but Bousquette and the Biola defense held strong to preserve the shutout.
Biola finished with five hits in the game. Nakano and Ibarra each drove in a run, while Huskey added an RBI to round out the Eagles' scoring.
With the win, Biola improved to 19–15 on the season.
