BU Scores First in Loss to NNU

The Biola Eagles scored first but it wasn’t enough to overcome Northwest Nazarene.

TRACY, Calif.---The Biola softball team scored first but it wasn't enough to overcome Northwest Nazarene at the Tracy Sports Complex. The Eagles ended up falling 6-2 to the Nighthawks who are receiving votes in the national rankings.

Kendall Nakano drove in Biola's first run with a single to center field. She brought home Jackie Ibarra, who got on base from an error.

The Eagles extended their lead to two runs in the fourth. Nakano set the tone with a lead off single, and pinch runner Izabella Larson moved up to second on a wild pitch before advancing to third on a flyout by Lillianna Garcia. Ariana Banos then brought Larson home with an RBI groundout to cap the scoring in the frame.

Northwest Nazarene responded in the bottom half of the fourth with two runs to even the score, then surged ahead in the fifth by plating four more.

Kayla Bousquette started against the Nighthawks and threw three innings. The Senior allowed one hit while striking out five. Symons surrendered four hits and six runs, while Garcia allowed one hit and recorded a strikeout over 1.1 innings of work.

Biola plays again tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. against Cal State Monterey Bay.
