The Biola Eagles shutout Whittier College 7-0 at the Biola Tennis Center.

LA MIRADA---The Biola men's tennis team shutout Whittier College 7-0 at the Biola Tennis Center.

BU started strong, winning the doubles point with wins on the first and third courts. Thiago Canessa and Keyon Gahvarehchi won 6-2 on the first court and Kian Azadi and Ashton Yarwood won 6-1 on the third court.

The Eagles went on to sweep singles. Mateo Rivas recorded Biola's most dominant win, defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-0 on the second court.

The first, third, fourth and sixth courts were also won in two sets. Canessa played his first career match on the first court and won 6-0, 6-1. Keyon Gahvarehchi defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-1 on the third court. Azadi won his match on the fourth court 6-4 and 7-4 in the second set tiebreak. Tanner Summers also won on the sixth court 6-2, 6-3.

Yarwood won a three set battle on the fifth court. He won his first set 6-0 and then lost his second 2-6. The Freshman went on to win his super set 11-9.

Biola improved 5-0 overall while Whittier College fell 0-5. BU plays next on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 3:30 p.m. against Azusa Pacific.
