Back On Track

Brown's 27 points lift Biola past Menlo

ATHERTON, Calif. --- The Biola men's basketball team looked to get back on track against the Menlo Oaks inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion. The Eagles defeated the Oaks, 80-76. 

Cameron Brown couldn't miss on Saturday afternoon. Brown scored 27 points, shooting 59 percent from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from deep. He tacked on five assists and five steals, leading BU in both categories. Facundo Aranda scored 14 points, shooting 6-for-7 from the floor. Tyus Parrish-Tillman locked in his fifth double-double of the year with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Charlie Gehler chipped in 10 points, including three triples. 

The first half stayed close through all 20 minutes. Brown and Parrish-Tillman held it down for BU, combining for 25 first-half points. As a team, Biola shot 52 percent from the floor and 44 percent from three. At the break, Biola led 38-37. 

The second half was a complete team effort. Brown (12) and Aranda (10) each scored double digits in the final 20 minutes. Parrish-Tillman and Gehler combined for 12 while Garrison Sherman capitalized on minutes off the bench, logging six points. After a 14-3 Menlo run, giving the Oaks the lead, the Eagles closed the game on a 33-25 run, shooting 12-for-16 from the floor and 3-for-5 from three. Leyton Martin sealed the game with a steal.

With the win, Biola moves 12-12 overall and 7-10 in conference play. They will head home and face the Dominican Penguins on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m.
