Rockin’ the Rim

Parrish-Tillman shines late as Eagles hold off Jessup in a 74–72 win

LA MIRADA --- The Biola men's basketball team battled it out with the visiting Jessup Warriors on Saturday night in Chase Gymnasium. The Eagles won in a thriller 74-72.

"Just being tough inside and getting my spot," said Tyus Parrish-Tillman. "My three was going down so it felt really good, really good."

Parrish-Tillman played a huge part in the win over the Warriors, scoring 29 points and adding seven boards. Chris Harris and Cameron Brown combined for 25 points and 12 rebounds.

The first half saw fireworks as Harris and Parrish-Tillman rocked the rim and connected from three. They combined for 22 of BU's 39 first half points. Cameron Brown, Facundo Aranda, and Gannon Dykstra each added five while Charlie Gehler chipped in two. In a back and forth frame, Biola held on to the lead, 39-35 at the buzzer.

The second saw the same excitement as both teams traded baskets through the first ten minutes. The Eagles connected on three of their five three point attempts as the Warriors evened the score at 42 all. Biola would go on a 14-7 run, aided by 6-for-8 shooting and 2-for-2 shooting from beyond the arc. In the final five minutes, Jessup found their way even with Biola at 68 all. It was defense from Parrish-Tillman and a three on the other end that sealed it for the Eagles, 74-72.

As a team, Biola shot 51 percent from the floor and 30 percent from three.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-11 overall and 4-9 in conference play. They will host Chaminade on Monday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
