Eagles Finish Regis Series in Style

Biola uses a four-run fifth and timely pitching to secure the series at Eagles Diamond

LA MIRADA --- The Biola baseball team took the series against Regis University on Saturday evening.

Jacob Talbott led the Eagles in a dominant win against the Rangers, throwing four and two-thirds, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out four. Christian Trejo came in and got the final out of the fifth, before Dylan Alanis shut down the Regis offense in the sixth.

Offensively for Biola, Adiel Torres put BU on the board with an RBI single scoring Nick Madole. Kyle Rogers would follow suit with a base hit of his own, scoring Kevin Villegas.

In the third, Jonny Tewinkle ripped a single to center field and Ransom Lorenzen would drive him in on an RBI double down the left field line. Later in the inning, Ashton Pass brought in Lorenzen on a deep fly ball to left field, putting Biola in front 4-0.

The fourth was much the same for the Eagles. Villegas lined a base hit to right field, before Kyle Rogers launched a two run homerun, adding to Biola's lead.

After giving up two runs in the fifth, BU responded with their biggest inning of the game, scoring four in the frame. Lorenzen started the inning with a base hit to center field and Tommy Kendlinger would follow with a no-doubter over the left field wall. Madole ripped a double down the left-field line, Torres singled, and Rogers cashed in Madole. Torres would score on a passed ball, finalizing the win for Biola.

With the win, Biola moves to 3-1 on the year and look forward to Cal State San Marcos on February 6 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
