Biola Men’s Tennis Ready for 2026

The Eagles were picked to finish second in PacWest’s Preseason Poll as the 2026 season approaches.

LA MIRADA---The Biola men's tennis team is gearing up to begin their 2026 season.

The Eagles, led by head coach David Goodman, have 19 games slated on their 2026 schedule. They play an exhibition match on Friday, Jan. 30 against Redlands and open their regular season at home on Friday, Feb. 6 against Ottawa Arizona.

Biola was voted to finish second in the PacWest's 2026 Preseason Poll with 69 points and had two first place votes. APU was selected as 2026's conference favorite with 76 points and six first place votes.

Biola returns five players to its 2026 roster, including three starters: Alejandro Flores Monteverde (11-9 singles, 13-4 doubles), Thiago Canessa (15-4 singles, 7-9 doubles) and Mateo Rivas (8-12 singles, 6-6 doubles). Flores Monteverde is BU's only returning all-conference performer, who earned First Team All-PacWest recognition in both singles and doubles.

The Eagles welcomed seven newcomers to their 2026 squad, two freshmen and five transfers. Ashton Yarwood and Kian Azadi make up BU's freshmen class. The Eagles' transfers include: Keyon Gahvarehchi (CUI), Angel Guerrero Melgar (Westcliff Univ.), Adam Large (CUI), Pol Masafret Hernandez (Reinhardt Univ.) and Juan Vallejo (Reinhardt Univ.).
