Game Recap: Men's Water Polo | | Ethan McGarvey, Sports Information Director

Weekend Comes to Close

Week number two is in the books, as the Eagles battled Cal Lutheran on Saturday afternoon.

REDLANDS, Calif. – In their fourth and final game of the weekend, Biola Men's Water Polo came out swinging but couldn't sustain the momentum, falling 13–9 to Cal Lutheran on Saturday afternoon.

The opening quarter was a shootout, with Biola landing early punches. Goals from Noah Ryznar, Caleb Hernandez (twice), and Nick Murray had the Eagles level at 4–4 after one, matching the Kingsmen stride for stride.

But the middle frames told a different story. Cal Lutheran strung together a five-goal run across the second and third quarters while Biola struggled to find rhythm. A late strike from Ryan Previch kept hope alive before the break, but CLU entered the final frame in control.

Biola continued to battle. Gavin McKenzie scored twice in the second half, adding to a productive weekend. Ivan Tkach tallied a late goal, while Ryznar and Hernandez each finished with two apiece.

Defensively, goalkeeper Joshua Dachenhausen turned in another double-digit save performance with 10 stops, and Levi Bengelink collected three steals to pace the Eagles' counter-attack.

Biola will be back in action on the road against Cal Baptist on Thursday at 5:00 pm.
