Eagles Hang Tight in First Half

Biola kept pace through 16 minutes of action in a tough battle against No. 14 Cal Baptist.

September 11, 2025

Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Biola Men's Water Polo hit the road Thursday for a primetime clash against No. 14-ranked California Baptist, trading early punches before ultimately falling 16–8 at the Lancer Aquatic Center.

The Eagles came out swinging against the nationally-ranked Lancers, pulling within one goal on three occasions in the first half. Goals from Noah Ryznar, Gavin McKenzie, Nick Murray, and Kyle Seifen helped Biola keep pace in a 6–5 game midway through the second quarter.

But a 5–1 run by CBU spanning the second and third periods put the game out of reach. Biola's offense kept generating chances—24 total shots—but couldn't match the depth and finishing power of the Lancers, who tallied 12 assists on their 16 goals.

Gavin McKenzie scored twice to lead the Biola attack.

Other standouts for Biola included goalie Joshua Dachenhausen, who recorded 13 saves despite the heavy workload, and Ryznar, who contributed a goal, assist, and steal.

BU will be back in the pool on Saturday, taking on Chapman and CSU Fullerton at the Titan Invite.
