Biola Shows Fight Against No. 10 Pacific

BU faced tough competition in the pool to finish off a double feature on Friday night.

CLAREMONT, Calif. --- In a primetime matchup against a top-tier opponent, Biola Men's Water Polo stepped up to face No. 10-ranked Pacific on Friday night at the Axelrood Aquatics Center. The Eagles showed flashes of strong play and hustle throughout the match, but ultimately fell 13–6 to the nationally recognized Tigers.

Pacific struck early and often, building a 3–0 lead in the first quarter before Biola broke through in the second. Adam Lavoy found the net to open the Eagles' scoring, and Beau Gendron capitalized on a man-up opportunity to cut the deficit to 4–2. Pacific countered with a late surge to take a 7–2 advantage into halftime.

Biola responded in the third, with Levi Bengelink scoring twice on quick, well-executed transitions. The Eagles also saw fourth-quarter goals from Kevin Slack and Ivan Tkach, each finding space to finish amid a tight Pacific defense. Dean Witt contributed off the bench with a steal and an assist, helping spark late offensive energy.

In goal, Joshua Dachenhausen tallied 10 saves and added 2 steals while facing a relentless Tiger attack. The Eagles also held their own in the field, picking up 10 team steals and winning two sprints.

Biola will return to action on Saturday, taking on Occidental at 10:20 am and Cal Lutheran at 3:40 pm in Redlands, CA.
