Two Ranked Tilts

Biola concluded the Lancer Invite with two bouts against top-15 ranked teams.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Biola men's water polo wrapped up the Lancer Invitational with two challenging matchups against nationally ranked programs, falling to No. 7 UC San Diego, 18-8, and No. 15 UC Irvine, 16-7, on Saturday.

Game One: UC San Diego 18, Biola 8
In the morning contest, the Tritons opened the game with a four-goal first quarter, which put BU on the back foot. Gavin McKenzie and Nick Murray paced the Eagles with a pair of goals, while Noah Ryznar, Xander Trevitt, Brandt McBride, and Kevin Slack each added a score of their own. Biola had a short burst of momentum before the halftime break, scoring three-straight goals but they could only get within five.

Game Two: UC Irvine 16, Biola 7
Later in the day, Biola faced another top-15 opponent in UC Irvine. The Eagles tossed 25 shots at the goal and put together their best quarter in the second with three goals.

The offense for the Eagles was well-balanced with seven goals from seven different players. Alec Abrahamian and McKenzie found the back of the net in the final stanza, with McKenzie's coming off a drawn exclusion.

Slack and McKenzie each put up multiple points in the contest with a goal and an assist.

The BU squad will now turn its focus to the Gary Troyer Tournament in Orange, California beginning on Friday.
