Let the Good Times Roll

BU made it four in a row with another sweep on Friday morning, taking down Texas Permian Basin.

LA MIRADA --- The busy weekend continued with an early start to Friday's double feature. Biola volleyball put together its cleanest performance of the season so far, sweeping Texas Permian Basin (25–19, 25–15, 25–23) at Chase Gymnasium for the Eagles' fourth-consecutive victory.

The BU offense was efficient throughout the morning, putting up 37 kills from six different threats. Biola finished the match with just six attack errors on the day, hitting .301 overall, marking season-bests in both categories.

The Eagles were sharp from the opening serve, shaking off an early push from UTPB in set one before taking control with a 9-1 run aided by three-straight aces from Lexi Lambert. BU traded points late to take the set, 25-19.

Set two showcased Biola at its best. The Eagles committed no attack errors in the frame while hitting .400 as a team with 14 kills. The final four points of the set all went the way of the Eagles, as Biola cruised to a 25-15 win.

The Falcons battled in the third and pushed Biola to the wire, tying the score 22-22 before the Eagles closed it out behind steady play from Payton Tully and a decisive kill from Vandertuig. Biola held firm to take the set 25-23 and complete the sweep.

The Eagles turned in their best serving performance of the season with 13 aces, led by Lambert's six — the most in a single match in her career.

Hanson, Vandertuig, and Tully each tallied eight kills to lead a balanced attack, while Moore chipped in six kills at a .312 clip. Bri Bellfi anchored the defense with 16 digs, and Hannah Guzzetti added four kills and a block.

BU will look to continue its winning ways later on Friday, battling Cal State Dominguez Hills at 6:30 pm.
