Looking For More, PacWest Tournament Loading

March 06, 2025

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. --- The PacWest Tournament begins on Friday for the Biola Men's Basketball team. The Eagles rounded out an incredible regular season, finishing second in the PacWest to head straight to the semifinals. The second round of the tournament will feature the No. 2 Biola squad against the winner of No. 3 Academy of Art and No. 6 Westmont at 5:00 pm on Friday at the Conlan Center in San Rafael, California.

The 2024-25 campaign was impressive for Biola but the team is ready for more. A record of 22-6 marked the best for the program since transitioning to the NCAA DII and the PacWest conference. The team reached 20 wins for the 30th time under Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist.

The BU squad is red-hot entering the tournament. The Eagles ended the regular season with 11-straight wins, setting a program record for the NCAA DII era.

Incredible play and key victories put the Eagles on notice within the west region. Throughout the season, Biola has been featured in the D2 CSC West Region Polls and was most recently picked third in the official NCAA DII West Region Rankings.

The team boasts a star-studded starting lineup, including a trio of All-PacWest selections. Daniel Esparza and Casey Cappo neared the top of the list, each earning First Team All-PacWest nods, as announced on Wednesday. Davian Brown also made the headlines, being named PacWest Newcomer of the Year and Second Team All-PacWest.

Biola ranks amongst the best teams in the nation for turnovers, keeping their average at 11.1 turnovers per game. The team also is great at converting at the charity stripe, ranking 25th in the country with a 76.9 free throw percentage.

This is the fourth time that the Eagles have made the PacWest Championships Semifinal round and will be hoping to reach the Championship game for the second time in program history.

Friday's 5:00 pm semifinals matchup will be at the Conlan Center on the campus of Dominican University and will be live streamed by the conference here with free live stats being offered here.
