Under the Lights

Biola hit the pool under the lights on Tuesday, facing NCAA DI Marist College.

LA MIRADA --- It was an electric night at the Splash Regional Aquatics Center, as the Biola Women's Water Polo squad took to the pool in a battle with No. 22 Marist College. The Eagles made a push in the fourth quarter but fell on Tuesday, 15-10.

For the 14th time this year, the Eagles took on a NCAA Division I squad. The midweek bout was a tune-up match in the midst of conference play.

Freshman Gwendolyn Pidd broke out in the second half. The young attacker found her groove, creating opportunities and striking with accuracy. Four goals came through in the final 12 minutes of action for Pidd alone.

Pidd also added to the defense with a team-high four steals.

Veralie Naranjo also struck in the second half. The senior dented the twine twice in the fourth quarter, helping the team to four goals in the final stanza.

Over the 32 minutes, Naranjo compiled three goals and an assist, while also drawing three exclusions. 

Destiny Moreno carried the torch in the early going, tallying three points for Biola. Two goals and one assist in the first half from the freshman propelled the offense.

Mia Mulhall aided the Biola cause with three steals and an assist on Tuesday.

Biola will be back to WWPA action on Friday on the road at Fresno Pacific at 1:00 pm.
