Biola Struggles Against Dominican

The women’s basketball team struggled to find their rhythm on Saturday afternoon, falling 64-41 to Dominican at the Conlan Center.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.---The Biola women's basketball team struggled to find their rhythm on Saturday afternoon, falling 64-41 to Dominican at the Conlan Center.

The Eagles got off to a shaky start, scoring 17 points in the first half while Dominican posted 33.

Biola bounced back after the halftime break with their best offensive frame. The Eagles went point-for-point with the Penguins in the third quarter. BU's 19-point frame was led by Laila Walker who scored six points. Kaylen Kamelamela and Sammie Henley recorded four and they were followed by Sydney Moran (3) and Jaycee Goldsmith (2).

Biola trailed Dominican by 16 points after the third quarter, but would end up losing 23 three after a strong fourth quarter finish by the Penguins.

Kamelmela led the Eagles scoring effort with 10 points. Henley and Walker were close behind with eight points each.

Kamelamela also led BU on the boards, collecting eight against Dominican. 

Walker led her team in steals, snagging three. Kamelamela had two and Jaya Michel had one.

BU fell 7-17 overall and 7-9 in the PacWest Conference while Dominican improved 17-9 and 11-4 in the PacWest.

Biola faced CUI next on Wednesday, February 12 at 5 p.m. at the CU Arena.
