Eagles Open Weekend vs No. 17 Michigan

The Claremont Convergence opened on Friday afternoon, as Biola faced No. 17 Michigan.

CLAREMONT, Calif. --- The slew of NCAA Division I foes for Biola women's water polo continued on Friday. The Eagles entered the Claremont Convergence and saw No. 17 Michigan in their first matchup of the weekend.

The goals came late for Biola in a 17-4 loss to the Wolverines.

Destiny Moreno grabbed multiple goals for the second-straight game. The freshman cashed in at the end of the second and the start of the fourth to lead Biola in the scoring column.

The BU attack left the gates slow with only one goal in the first half. The Wolverines worked ahead for a sizable halftime lead at 9-1.

The fourth quarter held the other three scores for Biola. The reigning WWPA Player of the Week, Veralie Naranjo, found the back of the cage once, while also offering an assist on one of Moreno's scores.

Christina Cervantes netted a goal before the game wrapped up, delivering on a Biola power play.

The Eagles will be back in action later in the day on Friday, facing No. 19 UC Santa Barbara at 4:30 pm.
