Game number two on Saturday saw the Eagles fall, 19-12, against UC Santa Barbara.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. --- Biola wrapped up day two at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational on Saturday with a bout against No. 18 UC Santa Barbara. Biola mustered 12 goals against the Gauchos but came up short in a 19-12 defeat.

Another NCAA DI opponent faced the BU women's water polo squad on Saturday. The afternoon match was the eighth for Biola against a ranked opponent.

For the second-straight game, the Eagles scored first, taking a 1-0 lead. Veralie Naranjo grabbed the goal on a power play just over a minute and a half into the contest.

Ava LoBue had herself a game with five points and a steal. The senior collected multiple goals and assists, netting two scores while dishing out three assists.

Naranjo aided one of LoBue's tallies with an assist on Saturday. The BU attacker was also the leading scorer for the Eagles with five goals on nine shots. Through two games on Saturday, Naranjo recorded 10 goals, three drawn exclusions, one steal, and one field block.

Lizzy Birch and Mia Mulhall also netted multiple goals, as Biola crossed the double-digit goal threshold for the second time this season.

UCSB inched their way ahead each quarter, opening up with a 5-2 edge after the first. By halftime, the Gauchos owned a 8-3 lead after netting the last two goals of the half.

Biola's offense found its stride in the second half, collecting nine goals between the third and fourth quarters but could not make up ground in the 19-12 loss.

The Eagles will return to action at the Claremont Convergence beginning on Friday at 12:45 pm with a matchup against No. 16 Michigan.
