Game Two Gets Away

Noah Ruiz homered and the Eagles scored four in a loss to No. 6 PLNU.

LA MIRADA --- Despite a more active BU offense, the Biola (4-7, 1-3 PacWest) and Point Loma (7-3, 3-1 PacWest) series finale went the way of the No. 6 Sea Lions. A big early lead carried through the final out, as PLNU took game two on Monday, 15-4,

Point Loma was quick to strike, piling on seven runs in the opening frame, all coming with two outs on the board. The visitors continued the rally in the second inning, building a 10-0 lead.

Noah Ruiz made the first dent on the deficit with a solo shot in the third. It came with two outs and nobody on and was his second long ball of 2025.

Jacob Talbott added a two-out RBI base-knock in the fifth. With runners on second and third, Talbott singled to centerfield, bringing in teammates Cole Thomson and Nick Madole.

Two mid-game substitutes made some noise in the sixth frame, as Adiel Torres and Cole Wentz joined forces for a run. Torres kicked off the inning with a triple, which made for his first career collegiate hit. Wentz brought him home with a single on a 0-2 count.

Tristan Cazel and Caleb Bennett each recorded scoreless outings in relief with 1.1 innings pitched apiece.

Biola will look to bounce back with a four-game home series against Jessup with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday beginning at 11:00am.
