Eagles Wrap Up Opening Weekend

Another defensive battle favored the visitors as game four concluded the weekend for Biola.

LA MIRADA --- Biola's season opening series against RV Northwest Nazarene was a narrow bout, featuring strong pitching on both sides. Late errors plagued the Eagles in a 2-0 loss to the Nighthawks.

Game two on Saturday reflected the second game from Friday with a whole bunch of zeros across the scoreboard. The pitching battle was the scene with Gabe Magallan starting on the mound for BU.

The junior was handed the ball and cruised through five frames. Magallan made it through the first three innings without giving up a hit, before finishing his outing with two strikeouts and no runs allowed.

Following five zeros on the scoreboard, NNU cashed in during the sixth inning. The visitors took advantage of a BU fielding error and netted two unearned runs.

Dylan Alanis saw his first action as an Eagle and logged two innings with one strikeout and no earned runs allowed.

Two of Biola's three hits in the contest came from leadoff man Tommy Kendlinger. The junior transfer was a bright spot in the lineup for BU in the series against NNU, hitting .333 with a .429 on-base percentage.

Biola will return to action in a three-game series against Cal State LA beginning with a single game on Friday at 1:00 at Eagles Diamond.
