Early Run Proves Decisive

Eagles chip away at the deficit in the second half, but UCSD’s fast start stands

La Jolla, Calif. --- The Biola men's water polo team took on #10 UC San Diego at Canyonview Aquatic Center for a non-conference road matchup. The Eagles' second-half push fell short against an early 6-0 run from the Tritons.

Outside of a Caleb Hernandez goal in the first half for Biola, the Eagles were forced to play tough defense. The Tritons scored six in the opening frame but BU was able to halt momentum, only conceding two in the second period.

The second half was much more of a back and forth battle. The Eagles totaled six goals to the Tritons five, however, the scoreless first period proved to be the difference. Gavin McKenzie and Nick Murray both scored two goals while Noah Ryznar and Caden Digby tacked on one apiece.

Defensively, Joshua Dachenhausen made eight saves on a .381 save percentage against a top ranked team.

The Eagles (7-19, 3-1) will be back home for the final weekend of the regular season as they take on Fresno Pacific (3-16, 1-2) on Friday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m.
