Game Recap: Men's Water Polo | | Aaron Rollins, Assistant Sports Information Director

Outpaced by Sunbirds

Despite six different scorers, the Eagles can’t keep pace with Fresno Pacific’s consistent attack

LA MIRADA --- On a rainy night at SPLASH! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center, the Biola men's water polo team took on the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds. After an early three goal deficit, The Eagles lost 6-11.

The offense for Biola was spread evenly with six different Eagles entering the score column. Levi Bengelink found the back of the cage in the final minute of the first period. However, FPU found themselves still up 3-1 after one.

The second frame was much the same. Biola was able to score twice but three goals from the Sunbirds made it a four goal margin into the break. Nick Murray and Alec Abrahamian each scored their lone goals in the second.

The second half was a defensive half as both teams combined for eight goals. The Sunbirds stayed consistent in their scoring with three in the third and two in the fourth. Biola made their biggest offensive push in the third with three goals but a scoreless fourth all but sealed it for FPU. BU's three goals were scored by Gavin McKenzie, Caleb Hernandez, and Kyle Seifen

As a team, the Eagles fired 28 shots on .214 shooting. Joshua Dachenhausen collected five saves on a .313 save percentage. Biola drew 13 exclusions but could only capitalize on three of their power play opportunities.

The Eagles will be back in the pool for Senior Day tomorrow at 1 p.m. against WWPA conference opponent, UC Merced (5-17, 1-4).
