Second Half Push Not Enough to Top Sagehens

The Biola men’s water polo team battled back from behind, but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome Pomona-Pitzer in their 15-10 loss.

CLAREMONT, Calif.---The Biola men's water polo team battled back from behind, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome Pomona-Pitzer in their 15-10 loss at Haldeman Pool.

The Eagles trailed the Sagehens 8-1 when they entered the halftime break. Caden Digby put Biola on the board late in the second quarter, sparking what became a determined comeback effort.

Biola scored four goals in the third period, with Xander Trevitt, Gavin McKenzie, Kyle Seifen, and Digby finding the net.

BU entered the final period down by eight goals (13-5) but would go on to outscore Pomona-Pitzer 5-2.

Despite a heroic effort, the Eagles would come up short. Caleb Hernandez stepped up in the fourth, recording a hat trick (his sixth of the season) with goals at 6:31, 4:37, and 1:40. Isaac Demski and Xander Trevitt also added goals in the final period.

Joshua Dachenhausen, Biola's goalkeeper, played the full 16 minutes and made three saves.

The Eagles will return home and prepare for their first home match against Concordia Irvine on Wednesday, October 8th at 1 p.m. at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center.
