A Great Start

The Biola women’s basketball team began the year with an exciting 60-36 exhibition victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Chase Gymnasium.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's basketball team began the year with an exciting 60-36 exhibition victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Chase Gymnasium.

The victory won't count for the Eagles overall record but it provided them with good experience as they begin the regular season on Friday, November 14 at 3 p.m. against Westminster.

Alyssa Kubo, Laney Grider and Addison Taylor led Biola's scoring with 10 points a piece. Kubo and Grider also led their team defensively with five steals.

BU had three blocks against the Athenas. Danya Dykstra, Grider and Aliyah Bantolina each had one. Dykstra was Biola's team leader on the boards, totaling five.

The Eagles dominated throughout the first half and led CMS 32-14 heading into the halftime break. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps made a comeback in the third quarter where they outscored BU 16-12 but the Eagles still held a 14-point lead going into the final frame (44-30).

Biola bounced back stronger than ever in the fourth, out-scoring CMS by their largest margin of the game (10 points). BU's 16-point fourth frame was led by Addison Taylor, Lizzy Weber and MiaGrace Delahoz who each scored four points.

BU has another exhibition game on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. against Pomona-Pitzer at home.
