Game Recap: Men's Water Polo | | Aaron Rollins, Assistant Sports Information Director

Valiant Effort comes up short

Eagles' second-half push not enough to overcome early deficit

Irvine, Calif. --- Biola Men's Water Polo visited WWPA opponent, Concordia, at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. The Eagles' second-half push was not enough to overcome the early Golden Eagle offense.

The first half was all Golden Eagles. CUI jumped to an early 6-0 lead through one and a half periods before Kyle Seifen put Biola on the board. Isaac Demski and Caden Digby tacked on two more before halftime to make it 3-9.

The Eagles came out firing in the second half, as goals from Nick Murray and Caleb Hernandez trimmed the gap to just four. The two teams would trade goals into the fourth. A Demski goal would bring the match to its closest margin of three. CUI would shut the door with two more goals in the final frame, as the Eagles fall 9-14.

Offensively, seven Eagles netted goals. Hernandez and Demski scored twice, while Noah Ryznar, Gavin McKenzie, Digby, Murray, and Seifen each scored once. Defensively, Joshua Dachenhausen logged 14 saves on a .500 save percentage.

The Eagles drop to 7-18 overall and 3-1 in WWPA play.

Biola will travel to La Jolla to face UC San Diego (18-8) on Nov. 8 at 12 p.m.
