Eagles Kick Off 2025

Eagles Diamond saw the season opener for Biola baseball, as the squad battled Northwest Nazarene on Friday.

LA MIRADA --- The excitement of spring filled the warm, breezy air of La Mirada on Friday afternoon, as the baseball season officially began. Biola opened the 2025 campaign with game one of a four-game series, falling to Northwest Nazarene, 10-3.

The Biola faithful hopefully did their homework with new faces all over the field. Six Eagles made their debut in game one on Friday, including Tommy Kendlinger, Jonny Tewinkle, Jacob Talbott, Josh McAninch, John Iacono, and Jack O'Brasky

It was the 8-9-1 hitters that got to work in the season opener, accounting for all three runs for BU. Talbott shined in his Eagles debut, grabbing two hits in three at bats with one run scored.

Noah Ruiz also offered a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The start of Friday's game was stellar as Andrew Zittel struck out the side in the top of the first. He went on to strikeout four-straight hitters to start the season.

Unfortunately, the Nighthawk bats got going and scored in every inning from the second through the sixth.

A true freshman steadied the pace on the mound with two scoreless frames. John Iacono offered two impressive innings of relief, starting his collegiate career with four strikeouts and six outs without allowing a single baserunner.

The Eagles pitching staff did well to get strikeouts, collecting 12 between the four hurlers.

Biola and Northwest Nazarene are underway for game two on Friday at Eagles Diamond. Check out the live stats here and live video here.
