Naranjo Scores Hat Trick in Hawaii

Biola opened up the Rainbow Invitational in Hawaii facing No. 12 Arizona State on Friday.

HONOLULU, Hawaii --- The Rainbow Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii at Manoa began for the Eagles on Friday with a matchup against No. 12 Arizona State. Veralie Naranjo netted a trio of goals but the Eagles came up short, 19-5 against the Sun Devils.

Naranjo was quick to the attack on Friday, scoring all three goals in the first quarter. The hat trick was already her second of the year, doing so with an even strength, powerplay, and five-meter goal.

ASU took control early though, scoring eight goals in the first quarter and leading 11-3 at the half.

Ava LoBue was the first to the ball in the second period, grabbing a sprint win for BU.

The BU offense cashed in again in the second half, netting two goals in the third quarter. Mia Mulhall landed her first goal of the season in the stanza and was followed by Stephanie Rodriguz who tallied goal number five for BU.

Rodriguez ended the day with two points, adding an assist to her performance. Gwendolyn Pidd and Christina Cervantes also added to the offense with an assist.

Biola will continue its tough slate, taking on No. 5 Hawaii on Saturday at 2:00 pm PT and No. 10 Loyola Marymount at 6:30 pm PT.
